Salmon Fishing - Pulaski, New York, 2017

My wife and I went salmon fishing last weekend.  The salmon run of this season was one of the best since we started salmon fishing in Salmon River 15 years ago.

We hooked and fought with many.  In the end we landed some fat king salmon.

Below is our fishing video.  In the video, you can see salmon splashing and jumping everywhere while we were keeping a tight line.

Salmon Fishing - Pulaski NY 2014

We went to our annual salmon fishing in Pulaski of upstate NY last weekend and caught one salmon each.

The date of our trip was actually postponed twice after reading the fishing report that fishing was slow.

Upon arrival, we saw many dead salmons in shallow water. It looks like this year's salmon season soon over without reaching a real peak of the salmon run.

Last weekend was tough for fishermen.  It rained whole day on Saturday and on top of that there were not many salmons seen in the water.  However, some fishermen were able to catch the few salmons while others caught steelheads.  

There is always next year we can experience the excitement of catching salmon again.




       

Salmon Fishing - Pulaski, NY 2013

As our autumn ritual, we went salmon fishing last weekend in the Salmon River.
Playing tug-of-war with this powerful fish gives us a lot of fun and excitement.
Unlike trout fly fishing, it is not quite demanding on us regarding to skill, knowledge or tactics etc., though we need to be in good spots.

This year we were fortunate that the river condition and the weather were very good.
Plenty of salmons were in the river. Somewhat mysterious to us, we saw almost all salmons caught were kings. In past years, we saw mix of silvers and kings.
We had many chances to fight with the fish and landed some nice kings.
We really enjoyed catching these enormous fighters under this year's summer like weather.

Salmon Fishing - Pulaski, NY

We went salmon fishing in Salmon River of upstate New York last Saturday and Sunday.

There were not many salmons in the River.
One of  the two fly fishing only sections where we always fish, was closed.
As a result, fishing became very tough.

My wife got a few bites and hooked one, but failed to land it.
I also got a few bites and barely landed one.  I would admit it was pure luck.
What happened was someone upstream hooked a nice size salmon. He fought with the fish for several minutes, but the fish was finally off-hooked. It swam to the spot where I was fishing.
I hooked it in just a few casts and landed it.

We go to Salmon River in Pulaski every fall.
We always have fun and exciting moments in the whole salmon fishing experience.

However, this year was the least fun we have ever had.  In Sunday morning, we even felt miserable fishing in the non-stop pouring rain.
Let's hope for the better next year.
